Casualties as landmine goes off in Borno
Ibrahim Maliya Saidu, a leader of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Borno State, has died in an explosion after a landmine Boko Haram planted went off at Maliya, Biu LGA.
Five other persons sustained injuries in the incident which happened in Biu Local Government Area of Borno.
Saidu was the planning secretary of CJTF in Biu.
Maliya was known for his bravery in battling the terrorists in the area.
Security agencies and NGOs have been warning residents of the possibility of explosion of landmines the terrorists have planted on farms and other areas around the Sambisa forest.
