In a statement released on Tuesday by Mr. Eseme Eyiboh, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Akpabio’s assurance came during his condolence visit to flood-affected areas in Maiduguri and a meeting with the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar El-Kanemi.
Akpabio praised President Bola Tinubu for his swift response to the disaster and assured that the National Assembly is prepared to mobilize support for flood mitigation and disaster prevention efforts.
He highlighted the government’s commitment and support to safety and welfare, promising to enhance the Special Disaster Intervention Fund when established.

He also thanked Vice-President Kashim Shettima, the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NNPC, NEMA, the Armed Forces, and other stakeholders for their prompt actions in addressing the crisis.
Akpabio commended Governor Babagana Zulum for his proactive disaster management and expressed the National Assembly’s dedication to supporting both federal and state-level initiatives aimed at rebuilding and aiding affected Nigerians.
