Catholic Mission battles DSS over invitation of Bishop Kukah
The Catholic Mission is set to battle the Department of Security Service (DSS) over the speculated invitation of Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah of the Sokoto Catholic Diocese for interrogation, National Daily gathered. The reported invitation of Bishop Kukah for interrogation by the DSS trended on social media at the weekend. National Daily learnt that the Youth Wing of the Christians Association of Nigeria (CAN) vowed to mobilize Christian youths across the country to escort the Bishop to the DSS Headquarters in Abuja.
Meanwhile, the Director of Social Communication, Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Rev. Father Christopher Omotoshop, debunked the report, urging members of the public to disregard the speculation. Rev. Father Omotoshop declared that “Bishop Kukah is yet to receive either call or mail from the DSS inviting him for interrogation,” saying that the speculated invitation of the Bishop by the DSS for questioning over his Christmas message is not true.
The speculated invitation generated apprehension at the weekend, leading to immediate reactions from the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, warning of imminent dangers of such action.
