Cavani’s PSG future uncertain
France Football report that PSG striker Edinson Cavani’s agents will look to the transfer market from next month onwards, with the Uruguayan international still without a contract extension offer & his current deal expiring in 2020.
In a team in which he has been squeezed out of attacking play by Kylian Mbappé and Neymar, both domestically and in the Champions’ League, Cavani has reached the age of 31 with a final big contract in the offing.
Napoli continue to propose an exit door for the forward, but he would be required to take a considerable pay cut if he elected to join up with Carlo Ancelotti’s men. His children live in Naples with his ex-wife, so from a lifestyle perspective, it cannot not be an attractive option for Edi.
The magazine lists Chelsea, with Maurizio Sarri not entirely content with either Alvaro Morata or Olivier Giroud, and Atletico Madrid, as other potential suitors.
Cavani and Diego Simeone, with Antoine Griezmann alongside the target man as well as Diego Costa’s wobbly form in the mix, and the Atleti option would appear the most appealing on paper from a purely football perspective, matching perfectly with Edi’s combative style and exceptional work-rate.
