Chiké breaks silence amid online rumours linking him to Frank Edoho’s estranged wife

Nigerian singer Chiké has reacted to growing online controversy and rumours linking him with Sandra Edoho, the estranged wife of media personality Frank Edoho, following days of intense social media speculation.

The controversy began after comments made by Frank Edoho during a recent interview, where he suggested that a fellow entertainer may have become involved with his former partner.

Although no names were mentioned, the remarks triggered widespread online discussions, with social media users quickly dragging Chiké into the conversation based on resurfaced rumours and old interactions.

As the speculation escalated and criticism mounted across platforms, the singer took to his X (formerly Twitter) account with a brief but emotional message: “Pity my soul.”

The post immediately sparked mixed reactions online, with many fans interpreting it as an emotional response to the ongoing scrutiny, while others debated whether it constituted an indirect denial or simply an expression of distress.

Despite the absence of any publicly verified evidence linking him to the allegations, Chiké has continued to face sustained online commentary, with supporters and critics divided over the unfolding narrative.

Some social media users have urged restraint, warning against what they described as the growing culture of “trial-by-social-media,” where public figures are judged and condemned without due process or confirmation of facts.

Others drew comparisons to the experience of Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo, who previously faced similar waves of online speculation and ridicule regarding his personal life, which at the time dominated conversations on Nigerian social media and led to concerns about the emotional toll on public figures.

Several users cautioned that unchecked online rumours can have serious psychological consequences, stressing the need for empathy when discussing celebrities’ private lives.

“Not every allegation deserves a public execution,” one user wrote, while another added: “We chased Alex Ekubo away from the internet with bullying and rumours. Nigerians should learn to stop destroying people emotionally before it becomes too late.”

As of now, Chiké has not directly addressed the allegations in detail beyond his brief post, which has only intensified online debate. While some users are demanding a clear response, others insist that he deserves privacy and protection from unverified claims.

The ongoing controversy highlights the broader issue of online speculation surrounding celebrities in Nigeria, with many observers warning that persistent digital harassment can have lasting emotional and reputational consequences.

Amid the heated discussions, calls are growing for more responsible engagement on social media, with users reminded that public figures, despite their fame, remain human and may be silently dealing with significant emotional pressure away from the public eye.
