Following the increasing spate of killings, arson and insecurity that pervades the land,Islamic faithful have been cautioned to desist from widely acclaimed jihadist tendencies, as the act clearly does not emanate from God.

A guest lecturer Fadilat Sheikh Abdulrahman Adangba made this call at the 5th Annual Ramadan Lecture & Iftar organised by Hon. Rasheed Makinde representing Ifako-Ijaiye II at the Lagos State House of Assembly on Saturday.

He tasked Muslim faithful accross Nigeria to learn to live in peace and harmony with non- Muslims, describing that as a great virtue Islam professed.

“God created all of us and we all belong to him, Muslims, Christians and Jihadists. If he doesn’t need the Christians or the traditionalists he would have killed them by himself, how come you are the one killing on behalf of God”, he asked

“We must learn to live in peace and harmony with everyone around us,  tolerance is a great virtue”, he said .

In his admonition to the lawmaker and other politicians at the lecture, he said, ” learn to forgive and correct, instead of forgive and forget.  If you only forgive and forget, the wrongs would accumulate and you will eventually revenge.

“Always try to make peace, there will always be factions under you as long as you occupy position. Learn to absorb criticism, there should not be politics of acrimony.

“Don’t only ask your aides to help you feel the pulse of the people around you, you must know what is going on in the community.

“Let people under you ventilate their views , don’t overrule people because the power reside with you as the head.

In his remarks, Hon. Makinde the organiser of the lecture urged all Muslims to continue to live right even beyond the month of Ramadan.

He notes that if only everyone decide to do the right thing like many strive to do only in the month of Ramadan, the country would overcome all her challenges in no distant time.

Other dignitaries at the lecture includes; Hon.Temitope Adewale Lagos Assembly member representing Ifako-Ijaiye 1,Ojokoro LCDA Chairman, Mr Tijani Hamid,Mr Azeez Istijabah Chairman of NAPEP operators in the area and host of others.
