Cobbler in court for alleged theft of generator

A 28-year-old Ibrahim Idris, a cobbler has been dragged to the Chief Magistrates court in Badagry for allegedly stealing a generator set valued at N35, 000.
Living in an unknown address, the accused was arraigned on a one count charge of stealing.
Mr Innocent Uko, the prosecutor told the court that the accused committed the offence on October 14, at No: 35, Adomo Street, Limca, Badagry and the generator was said to belong to one Mr Mufutau Ajimo.
National Daily gathered that the accused who is a cobbler was walking by and saw the generator placed outside a house with no one around the place. “He took the generator away, but was apprehended by vigilant neighbours.
He said that the offence was punishable under Section 285 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria 2011. While he pleaded not guilty to the offence, his counsel, Mr Chinedu Ukah, pleaded with the court to grant him bail on liberal terms.
Mr Abiodun Etti, the magistrate granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100,000 and a surety who must provide evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government and the case was adjourned to November 18 for further hearing.
