A Coroner’s inquest has revealed the cause of late Senator Isiaka Adeleke’s death as drug overdose. This put to bed the insinuation that he was poisoned.
Olusegun Ayilara, the coroner, gave the verdict in Osogbo on Tuesday.
He said, “The high dose of sedatives and analgesics with the mode of administration caused aspiration which culminated in death.”
Among the 15 witnesses invited by the coroner to give testimony were deputy governor, Titilayo Tomori, and Alfred Aderibigbe, the nurse believed to have intravenously injected Adeleke with painkillers.
Dr. Taiwo Solaja, the pathologist who did the autopsy and Prof. Akeem Lasisi, chief medical director of LAUTECH Teaching Hospital, Osogbo.
However, the deceased’s siblings shunned the coroner’s invite.
