Coup: France sends special forces to Niger
The French government may have on Thursday sent special forces to Niger Republic after the coup that ousted President Mohamed Bazoum on Wednesday.

France’s Special Forces in Niger
National Daily gathered the special forces from France defied the closure of the airspace and all borders by the military authorities in Niger and landed in the early hours of Thursday at 6.00am with a contingent of Commandos.
The special forces from France were, however, said to be resisted and stopped by the Nigérienne Army Special Forces at the airport. The Niger military was said to have reminded France and all partners to strictly adhere to the restrictions imposed by the new regime.
According to a report: “Despite the statement announcing the closure of the airspace, France landed a plane this morning at 6 o’clock with a contingent of special forces on board.
“The Commando elements were blocked at the airport by the Nigérienne Army Special Forces reminding France and all partners to strictly adhere to the aforementioned ban.”
