Court sentences Man, 18, to community service for stealing
An Asaba Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday sentenced 18-year-old man, Destiny Ukpor, to a week community service for stealing iron rods valued N26,000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Edith Anumodu, sentenced the Ukpor, after he pleaded guilty to the charge.
Anumodu said the community service should be done within the court premises or any government agency.
The convict, who stood trial on a one-count charge of theft, stole two iron rods, valued at N26,000, property of one Mr Valentine Udugba.
The Prosecutor, Mrs Susan John, told the court that the convict committed the offence on Aug. 27 at Plot 12B, Phase 3, off Okpanam Road, Asaba.
She said the offence was punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap C21, Vol 1, Laws of Delta state of Nigeria 2006.
