Dauda Lawal wins PDP primary again in Zamfara
Dr. Dauda Lawal-Dare has won the primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) again in Zamfara State to re-emerge the party’s governorship candidate for the 2023 general elections. The initial primary election was annulled by the court which ordered fresh primary election.
Dauda Lawal-Dare had 422 votes to win the PDP governorship ticket, defeating Ibrahim Shehu, Hafiz Mohammed and Wadatau Madawaki.
Chairman of the PDP election committee in Zamfara, Hassan Hyet, declared Dauda Lawal-Dare winner having scored the highest number of votes and was returned as the governorship candidate of the PDP in Zamfara State for the 2023 elections.
Hassan Hyet had declared, “Based on the rules and guidelines of the party, I have the singular honour to return Dr. Dauda Lawal Dare as duly elected to be the flag bearer of Zamfara state PDP comes 2023.”
Hassan said that the primary was peaceful, transparent, and credible.
The presiding judge of the Federal High Court sitting in Gusau, Justice Aminu Bappa, delivering judgement on a suit filed by Ibrahim Shehu and two other governorship aspirants challenging the credibility of the initial primary last Friday, cancelled the primary election won by Dauda and ordered a fresh election.
