Day of rage as Apapa residents arrest, burn 2 traffic robbers
Two traffic robbers were lynched, and set ablaze by a mob around First Rainbow, Apapa/Mile 2 road, Lagos, early Sunday.
But the Lagos police command has frowned on such jungle justice no matter what.
Criminals suspected to be members of a syndicate terrorising residents and carrying out traffic robberies in the area are usually armed as the raid the communities and rob commuters early morning and late in the evening.
Residents of the area couldn’t wait when they apprehended the two robbers.
Lagos state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu confirmed the incident.
He appealed to members of the public to always give prompt credible information about crime and criminals to the police for appropriate action.
“The remains of the suspected armed robbers have been deposited in the Isolo General Hospital’s morgue for autopsies. The Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has directed that the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, investigate the incident,” he said.
