Edo police admits gunmen kidnapped DPO
The Edo State Police Command on Sunday admitted that gunmen kidnapped a Divisional Police Officer, Ibrahim Ishaq, in charge of the Fugar Division.
The DPO was kidnapped on Saturday evening along old Auchi – Ekperi – Agenebode road in the vicinity of Ise River.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Edo Command, Kontongs Bello, in a statement on Sunday evening,
Narrated that CSP Ibrahim Ishaq was kidnapped on Friday about 5.20 pm on his way to Agenegbode in a private vehicle with his Orderly, one Sgt Aliu, who were both on mufti.
The PPRO disclosed that armed men, suspected to be kidnappers, obstructed the DPO’s vehicle at Ekwuosor, noting that the gunmen suddenly came out of the bush and started shooting at the private car, forcing them to stop. While the gun men kidnapped the DPO, CSP Ibrahim Ishaq, and dragged him into the bush, the orderly was lucky to escape.
The PPRO, however, appealed for calm, assuring that the Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Philip Ogbadu, gas already deployed a tactical team on manhunt for the gunmen and rescue of the kidnapped DPO.
