EFCC summons Yahaya Bello to court on Nov 14
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) summons former Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State and two others to appear before the FCT High Court, sitting at Maitama, Abuja, on November 14 at 9.00am to answer to allegations of fraud.
According to the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, presided by Justice Maryann E. Anenih, in suit No. FCT/HC/CR/778/2024, between Federal Republic of Nigeria and Yahaya Adoza Bello, Umar Shuaibu Oricha and Abdusalami Hudu, the summon reads:
“Public Summons to Yahaya Adoza Bello:
“To Yahaya Adoza Bello of 9, Benghazi Street, Wuse Zone 4, Abuja,
READ ALSO: INEC denies allegations of BVAS smuggling in Edo
“Complaint has been made this day on behalf of the Federal republic of Nigeria that you (Yahaya Adoza Bello) sometimes within the year 2016 up till 2023 within the jurisdiction of this honourable Court did commit offences to wit: Criminal Breach of trust contrary to Section 311 of Penal Code Law Cap. 89 Laws of Northern Nigeria 1963, Punishable under SECTION 312 of same Law; and Having possession or control of property reasonably suspected to have been unlawfully obtained contrary to and reasonably punishable under Section 319A of the Penal Code Law, Cap. 89 Laws of the Northern Nigeria 1963.
“You are hereby summoned to appear before the Federal Capital Territory High Court of Justice (High Court No. 3) sitting at Maitama on the 14th day of November 2024 at the hour of 9.00am to answer to the said complaint.”
EFCC summons Yahaya Bello after failed attempts for his arrest and prosecution.
The summon was signed by Justice M.lE. Anenih, the presiding judge.
