Ekiti NUT election goes bloody
- three wounded, two detained
At least three persons yesterday received injuries while two others were arrested and detained over the conduct of the elections into the executive council of the Ekiti State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT).
It was alleged that the victims, who were delegates from some primary and secondary schools across the state, were arrested and beaten by men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps( NSCDC) and Department of State Security (DSS).
One of the contestants, Mr Lucas Adu, told journalists that trouble started when some of his supporters had queried the rationale behind the choosing of the delegates by the NUT electoral body, only for the security operatives to turn up and chase his supporters out.
