El-Rufai, APC lose elections
Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai lost his 01 Polling Unit and councillorship at Ungwan Sarki in Kaduna North Local Government Area of the state at the LGA election on September 4.
Presiding Officer Muhammad Sani announced out of 159 total vote cast, the PDP polled 86 votes and the APC, 62 votes for the chairmanship position.
The opposition party also beat the ruling party with 100 votes against 53 in the councillorship.
The governor expressed confidence in the voting process, saying that the outcome should be acceptable by all the parties in the election as it was nearly impossible to rig it.
According to him, the electronic voting machine used in the election is an improvement over the one used in the 2018 local government elections, where multiple voting were experienced.
The Kaduna State Electoral Commission suspended elections in four local government Areas in the state because of insecurity.
