Election violence: Benue ADC primary hijacked by armed thugs
By Kingsley Chukwuka
The African Democratic Congress (ADC), primary election for the Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency has collapsed into chaos after armed thugs intercepted the vehicle transporting official electoral materials and violently ejected the local Party Chairman from the moving vehicle.
Hon. Sharon Adokpe, the Apa Local Government ADC Chairman, was traveling with the crucial election items when the ambush occurred, our correspondent said.
According to reports, the assailants hijacked the vehicle, stripped it of the voting materials, and threw Hon. Adokpe out of the moving car before speeding away to an undisclosed location.

Responding, the David Olofu Campaign Council issued a blistering condemnation of the attack, stating firmly that no legitimate voting occurred under the volatile conditions, a statement signed by the Campaign Secretary, Dr. Friday Adakole Elijah said.
Elijah declared that any results emerging from the compromised exercise are completely fraudulent.
He petitioned the state and national leadership of the ADC to discard any outcome tied to the sabotaged primary, warning that certifying a process tainted by such criminality would ruin the democratic credibility of the party.
Elijah pressured law enforcement agencies to track down the perpetrators, secure the stolen materials, and disqualify any political aspirant found to be sponsoring or benefiting from the hijack.
