FG, NCC to reward 1,776 students with laptops after Young Innovative Builders competition
The Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy in partnership with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), will be rewarding 1,776 students from tertiary institutions across the country with one laptop each at the end of the Young Innovative Builders competition.
Specifically, the Young Innovative Builders programme will recognise students across the country in tertiary institutions who have gone through an industrial training programme.
The Young Innovative Builders (YIB) programme will therefore showcase and reward innovative projects by young Nigerians that align with the Ministry’s objectives to grow the digital economy, according to a publication by the NCC.
The top 48 projects selected in each State and the FCT, it revealed, will receive laptops while the next best 40 will receive tablets.

Students from tertiary institutions across Nigeria who have completed their training are therefore called to send entries after which 48 top projects from each State of the federation and FCT will be rewarded with the handsome prizes.
NCC has therefore advised interested students to log on to https://yib.fmcide.gov.ng to get eligibility criteria and the application process.
Applications will be reviewed by a diverse selection committee with representation from academia, industry experts, the Ministry and other stakeholders, using a standard grading system, the organiser explained.
The final list of successful applications, they also said, will be published via official channels on/before December 22, 2023.
The application portal, which had since been opened (on November 22), is expected to be closed by December 6th, 2023, while the final list of successful applications will be published via official channels on or before December 22nd, 2023.
No doubt, the initiative recognises the important role of industrial training programmes in providing practical experience for the application of knowledge.
