FG’s N57bn Ibi Bridge 2.3-kilometre contract in Taraba hangs on 2 years after
The federal government N57 billion contract for the construction of 2.3-kilometre Ibi bridge in Taraba State has been hanging on since 2020. The Bridge, which extends to a 8 kilometres access road, was said to be awarded by the federal government in 2020 at the cost of N57 billion.
There are fears that the bridge may not be completed before the end of the Buhari administration. Residents of the state are, however, full of expectations that the bridge will facilitate the development of education and the economy of Taraba State. The residents pleaded that the federal government should endeavor to complete the bridge and access road construction before the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari ends on May 29, 2023.
The Federal University of Wukari was identified as the major federal government tertiary institution in Taraba State.
It was gathered that the Chairman of the Governing Board of the University had at the graduation of 3,897 students in a combined convocation ceremony, was of the belief that the completion of the bridge and access road will open opportunities for admission of more students, as the project will provide easy transportation of people to the institution in search of admission, including visiting lecturers.
It was indicated that the Ibi Bridge and access road will provide short routes linking Taraba State with other parts of the country.
