Fire destroys over 100 farmers yam farm in Plateau

Over 100 farmers yam farms were yesterday destroyed by inferno in southern Plateau, eyewitness told our correspondent in Jos.
Food items and other valuables worth millions of naira were reportedly also destroyed by the various fire which raised down the popular Namu Central Yam Market in Quaanpan Local Government Area.
The eyewitness Alhaji Kabiri Buba said farmers and traders are presently counting their losses.
“Over 100 farmers were affected”, he said.
However, Senator representing Plateau South, Hon. Nora Dadu’ut has sympathised with the traditional ruler of the affected area, the “Long Jan of Namu”, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Safiyanu Allahnana and the entire community especially victims of the fire incident that destroyed the popular Namu Central Yam Market in Qua’an Pan LGA.
“I commiserate with the entire people of Namu over this sad incident: since I heard of it, I have not been my usual self. I pray to God to revive the spirit of those affected by this incident”, the Senator said in a statement.
