Four killed as cultists fight over politicians’ largesse
No less than four persons have reportedly been killed at Swali axis of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, as suspected rival cult groups clashed over the sharing of money given by politicians from the area.
A source claimed that those killed were suspected to be members of the two rival cult groups in the area known as ‘Dey-well and Bobos.’
Confirming the incident, police spokesman in the state, SP Asinim Butswat, said the operatives had arrested four suspects in connection with the cult clashes.
He however said two cultists died during the clash.
He said, “We have arrested four suspects in connection with the cult clashes, while two suspected cult members died during the clash. Investigation is ongoing.”
The incident is coming barely two days after the Yenagoa community placed a ban on cult activities in the area.
