Fresh graduate among victims of Otukpo robbery attack
A young university graduate who just joined UBA, Emmanuel Uche Best from Umuaku, Isuochi Umunneochi Local Government Area, LGA of Abia State, was among those killed when daredevils’ robbers invaded four banks in Otukpo, Benue state last Friday.
Emmanuel finished his mandatory NYSC in June 2023, got a job with the United Bank for Africa, UBA but ran out of luck as he was killed in the robbery attack at the branch of his bank in Otukpo on Friday, on the 20th of October.
According to information, as at 3pm Friday afternoon, Emmanuel was alive and doing his job but the notorious armed robbers did not spare his life in the attack that affected other banks like First Bank, Access, Stanbic IBTC and Zenith Banks, living his family in an unending misery, tears and pain.
You would recall that on Friday, the 20th of October, 2023, daredevil armed robbers stormed three bank branches in the Otukpo area of Benue State and carted away money in several millions, killing about seven (7) people including a former counselor who was transacting business and Emmanuel Uche-Best who worked with UBA branch in the state.

An eyewitness who simply identified himself as Sunny said the robbers first attacked the police station before proceeding to the banks and it must have been the sporadic gunshots that may have hit Emmanuel and killed him on the spot.
Meanwhile, four suspects believed to be part of the gang that attacked banks and a police station at Otukpo, Benue State have been arrested by the Police along Otukpo-Taraku road, Benue State on Saturday.
Spokesperson for the command, SP Sewuese Anene, in a press statement issued on Saturday saying two of the bank robbers were killed during the gun battle with a team of security reinforcement along the Otukpo/Taraku Federal Highway with many of them scampering into the forest.
SP Anene further noted that the police are currently on the heels of the suspects with a view to apprehend them.
The Benue state Police command says it has killed two and arrested four of the armed robbers that attacked commercial banks in Otukpo.
According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Alia, Tersoo Kulo, the governor described the robbery incident as an affront on the state; especially that it took place at the exact time the Security Council meeting was in progress in Government House Makurdi.
The Governor sympathised with the families of those who were gruesomely murdered by the robbers during the robbery.
