Fresh tension in PDP as Tinubu holds meeting with Pius Anyim, Olisa Metuh at State House
There appears to be seeming tension in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over fear of losing members to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the aftermath of the 2023 general elections. The PDP leadership may be developing fresh tension as President Bola Tinubu held a meeting with a former PDP presidential aspirant, Anyim Pius Anyim; and a former PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, at the State House, Abuja, on Wednesday.

While details of the meeting were not disclosed, such and inter-party meeting often generate suspicion of negotiations for defection.
The tension in the PDP has become a thing of concern to many party stakeholders because President Tinubu has, since assumption of office, met with notable PDP members who include former Governor James Ibori of Delta State, members of the PDP Group of five governors (G5) – former Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, former Governors Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, Ifeanyi Uguwanyi of Enugu State, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, including Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.
