Global specialists to explore future of cancer treatment at ISRT 2026

Lagos is set to host the International Symposium on Radiopharmaceutical Therapy (ISRT) 2026, bringing together leading experts in nuclear medicine, oncology, radiopharmacy, molecular imaging and precision medicine from across Africa and beyond.

The two-day symposium is scheduled for August 28 and 29, 2026, at Loveworld Medical Centre, Lagos, with participants and faculty drawn from Nigeria, South Africa, Algeria, Egypt, Kenya, Ethiopia, Germany, India and the United States.

The event is expected to provide a platform for scientific exchange, professional education and international collaboration on emerging approaches to cancer diagnosis and treatment.

The symposium will focus on developments in radiopharmaceutical therapy, including targeted radiopharmaceutical treatments, molecular imaging, radioligand therapy and other precision oncology technologies.

Beyond presentations and scientific lectures, organisers said the programme will feature hands-on workshops, clinical case discussions and multidisciplinary sessions designed to provide healthcare professionals with practical knowledge on the application of advanced cancer-care technologies.

The programme will also include country-specific perspectives from African participants and strategic discussions on the challenges of introducing and scaling radiopharmaceutical therapy and related technologies across the continent.

Focus on African Capacity

A central objective of ISRT 2026 is to strengthen Africa’s capacity in advanced cancer care through education, workforce development, international partnerships, technology transfer and professional collaboration.

Organisers said the symposium would connect African healthcare professionals with international specialists while creating opportunities for knowledge sharing and long-term partnerships in nuclear medicine and precision oncology.

The event is being hosted by Loveworld Medical Centre and reflects the stated commitment of the Loveworld Ministry of Healing, Health and Social Services to advancing healthcare through medical knowledge, innovation and international collaboration.

With cancer care increasingly moving towards personalised and targeted treatment approaches, the symposium is expected to provide an avenue for specialists to examine how emerging technologies can be adapted to Africa’s healthcare systems and expanded sustainably.

ISRT 2026 will hold on August 28–29 at Loveworld Medical Centre in Lagos under the theme of advancing theragnostics and transforming cancer care in Africa.
