Gov. Wike hosts South-South Governors meeting
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State on Monday hosts the meeting of the South-South governor in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The meeting is being held at the Government House, Port Harcourt.
In attendance at the meeting is Chairman of the South-South Governors’ Forum, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State. The Delta and Edo governors were gathered to have arrived early at 10.30am; the other two governors arrived later.
The participation of Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State was not certain at the time the meeting was beginning.
The Southern Governors’ Forum is expected to meet one month from now, and the Southern Governors will be meeting in Port Harcourt.
There were indications the meeting may deliberate on issues relating to the 2023 presidential race or power rotation, the controversy over collection of Value Added Tax (VAT) by states, security, and the economy of the region, among others.]
