Gunmen abducts Abia State University deputy vice-chancellor
Unknown gunmen have abducted the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Abia State University, Uturu, Professor Godwin Emezue.
The Abia State Police Command in a statement on January 27, said the report of the Deputy Vice Chancellor’s abduction was received by the Command on Friday at about 9:30 pm.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Maureen Chinaka, the information it received said that at about 7 pm of the same date, Emezue, while in the company of his wife in their vehicle, was abducted by hoodlums while purchasing fuel at a petrol station in Umuekwu Amachara, Umuahia South LGA of the State.
According to the report, the hoodlums confiscated his wife’s ATM card, dragged the Deputy Vice-Chancellor into a Lexus SUV and drove away.
“We urge Abians to remain calm and continue their legitimate activities while maintaining vigilance & being security conscious.
