Drug abuse is responsible for the rising insecurity in Plateau — Gov. Mutfwang

The executive governor of Plateau state, Caleb Mutfwang, has said the abuse of illicit drugs plays a role in the heightened insecurity in the state.

Communities in Mangu LGA experienced fresh attacks on January 23 that left at least 30 people, including women and children dead.

The attack forced the state government to impose a dusk-to-dawn curfew, with security agencies charged to bring the assailants to book.

Speaking during a visit to the LGA on Friday, January 26, Mutfwang said, “Of course, there was the involvement of dr¥gs; this is something we must tackle to be able to address the issues of the drug menace in our society.

This is why we want to use this medium to tell those in dr¥g business to know that their time on the Plateau is up; we will not tolerate it any longer.

We will go after them, and if they have anywhere they want to do their business, Plateau is certainly not the place.”
