Gunmen kill police inspector, injure two other officers
A yet to be identified Police Inspector has been shot dead while two other officers were injured by gunmen who rained bullets on them at a checkpoint in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State on Monday.
The attack on the police personnel was confirmed by the Public Relations Officer (PPRO), of the Ebonyi Command, SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, on Tuesday in Abakaliki.

According to Onovwakpoyeya, the command is aware of the incident and is making a press statement.
“I am making a press statement now, and I will make it available to the media when I am done,” Onovwakpoyeya said.
An eyewitness, Philip Onwe, said the killers opened fire at a checkpoint and shot the Inspector and two other police officers, who sustained bullet wounds.
