Ikpeazu shuns Atiku’s South-east zonal stakeholders meeting

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state was conspicuously missing on Tuesday at the Southeast Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) South-east zonal stakeholders meeting attended by the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar in Enugu state.

Atiku visited the Southeast stakeholders in Enugu with only Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in attendance.

The former Vice President, who arrived at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport on Tuesday morning met with the stakeholders at the Baze Event Centre, Independence Layout Enugu.

The event is aimed at uniting the Igbo for PDP and presenting their son, Ifeanyi Okowa, as the party’s vice-presidential candidate. Okowa is Delta State Governor.

This is coming after the South-East failed to get the party’s presidential ticket despite calls for the ticket to be zoned to the region.

At the time of filing this report, the venue for the meeting had been filled with party faithful from the five states in the South-East, awaiting Atiku’s arrival at the venue.

Some members of the zone’s PDP caucus like the National Vice Chairman, Ali Odefa, PDP executives, Rep Tobi Okechukwu, representing Oji-River Federal Constituency, and members of the Enugu State Assembly, were already seated for the programme.

Also seated for the event were prominent PDP stakeholders, including the party’s former spokesman, Oliseh Metuh; ex-Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim; Hyde Onuagulichi, and Sen. Uche Ekwunife, amongst others.
