INEC Chairman assures Labour Party legal team provision of documents to prosecute case at tribunal
The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, at a meeting with the legal team of Labour Party (LP) at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja, assured that the Commission is ready to provide all documents needed to prosecute the party’s case at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
A statement on the INEC facebook, quoted Yakubu as saying: “INEC has nothing to hide. Documents available at the HQ will be given immediately.
“We are meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners today and we will discuss how other documents at the state level could also be made available to you speedily.”
The head of the LP legal team, Dr Livy Uzoukwu, led 60 lawyers to the meeting with INEC officials to commence the process of inspection of electoral materials used for the February 25 presidential election.
