Israel to partner Nigeria in the fight against terrorism
Following the Spate of unrelenting terror campaigns in the North-East especially by the Boko Haram insurrectionist group and the attendant insecurity in the country, the Isreali government has offered to collaborate with Nigeria on its counter-terrorism campaigns.
The Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Uriel Palti, announced this Wednesday when he paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of Interior, LT.Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau in Abuja.
Palti disclosed that Israel is also facing similar terrorist attacks and insecurity, calling for the strengthening of the relationship between the two countries to ensure continuity in the building of structures in all fields, especially in the Ministry of Interior.
Reacting to the Ambassador, the Minister of Interior, Lt.Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau said that the collaboration is a welcome development as no country can work in isolation in the fight against terrorism.
Dambazau stated that Boko Haram insurgency is no longer a problem peculiar to Nigeria alone but a regional problem affecting four other countries, adding that every nation has a role to play in the fight against the terror group.
The Interior Minister further expressed happiness over the offer from the Israeli government, especially to the Interior Ministry which he said is the hub of internal security in Nigeria with the five strategic security institutions, adding that the major challenge of dealing with internal security is in the Ministry.
The Minister added that he looks forward to partnering with Isreal in dealing with some issues in the future.
