Lagos cleric kidnaps Imo priest, make millions in ransom
A pastor of the Apostolic Church of Christ in Lagos identified as Izuchukwu Anoloba, 35, has been arrested by the Imo State Police Command for allegedly kidnapping a Catholic priest, Fidelis Ekemgba.
Imo Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Hussaini, has paraded Izuchukwu Anoloba, 35, for kidnapping Fidelis Ekemgba, 45, at Umunohu Amakaohia in the Ihitte/Uboma Local Government Area of Imo.
Anoloba is the pastor of a Christ Apostolic Church parish in Lagos while his victim is the priest I charge of St Peters Catholic parish at Umunohu.
According to CP Hussaini, the priest was ambushed by a kidnap syndicate that took him away to their hideout for seven days.
They released him after he paid N5 million.
The suspect was arrested in Lagos following intelligence gathering by men of the anti-kidnapping unit of the Lagos command.
Anoloba confessed to the crime.
“I am a pastor with the Apostolic Church of Christ in Lagos. I got N1.5 million from the kidnap of the priest,’ he said.
“I never knew I will be arrested. I regret my actions because I am now a disgrace to the body of Christ and my family.”
