Lagos CP makes show of what happens to thousands of motorcycles police impounds
To convince Lagosians that motorcycles the state police impound from erring riders are actually going into crushers for recycling, the state police commissioner made a spectacle of it Nov. 20 at Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
No fewer than 482 of such went through the crusher at the site.
Hakeem Odumosu, disclosed that the crushing has been on since the enforcement started but the public show was to tell the naysayers they are wrong.
According to him, some people he called mischiefs have been saying the police resells the motorcycles they seize from the riders.
He warned erring motorcycle operators plying restricted areas and those violating other traffic laws or using motorcycles for criminal activities in the state to have a change of mind or face the legal consequences.
The crushing has come to stay, he assured, and hoped it will discourage people from trampling upon the law.
