Lagos ENDSARS report: Buhari tells Blinken pointblank how FG will handle it
The UN, the US, and others relying on a leaked report of the Lagos ENDSARS panel to press President Muhammadu Buhari for an urgent next line of action are not going to get anything soon.
Buhari has told visiting US secretary of state, Anthony Blinken, no point in hurrying.
“We can’t impose ideas on them. Federal Government has to wait for the reaction of the states,” he said on Thursday.
“We at the Federal have to wait for the steps taken by the states, and we have to allow the system to work.”
The Lagos panel, whose term of reference covered the infamous Lekki Toll Gate Shooting, said in the leaked report the military and the police massacred te protesting youth.
The leaked report, which one the panelists just dismissed, recommended soldiers and police officers in the killing of nine potesters and injuring of more than 30 others should be punished, among other recommendations.
The federal government has, however, stood by the army, claiming it was ‘a massacre with no dead body’.
