Lagos Govt apprehends 94 suspects, recovers gun, drugs
The Lagos State Government has apprehended 94 suspected criminals in a midnight operation in the Agege area of the state.
The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, disclosed this on Wednesday in a post he shared on his X handle @tokunbo_waheed.
Wahab said the ministry undertook a midnight raid along the rail-track between Pen-Cinema under bridge up to Fagba Junction.
“The area was raided in response to complaints from residents, commuters and concerned citizens, on the nefarious activities of illegal squatters, miscreants and suspected criminal elements along rail-track corridors.
“The thorough operation commenced at about 2:30 a.m., covering more than five kilometres in distance. Shanties/illegal structures were removed.
“94 suspects were apprehended during the midnight operation and locally fabricated short gun, several wraps of illicit substance suspected to be cannabis sativa, charm as well as a jack knife were recovered,” Wahab said.
According to him, the suspects will be charged to court accordingly.
