Lessons Pep Guardiola fail to learn from PSG and Chelsea’s defeats to Real Madrid
Manchester City surprisingly lose this season’s UEFA Champions League Semi-Final tie to Real Madrid despite previously being 2 goals up and there have been several resulting reactions on this.
With all the financial supports which Pep Guardiola has been able to enjoy since he arrived at the club, all expectations have been on him to champion his team to the competition glory as soon as possible.
However, in their defeats to Madrid yesterday, there are some things which his side lacked but which Real Madrid has, as he should have learnt from the way both Chelsea and PSG lose to the Laliga giants.
First, the Perseverance factor is one of the things which eluded Manchester City players yesterday.
Though, they are expected to relax themselves in the late minutes of the game as they were already comfortably leading, they should have learnt the lesson from the defeats both Chelsea and Paris Saint Germain suffered in the hand of the Los Blancos, with the goals coming in the late minutes of their matches.
Second is Overconfidence and this mistake is seen to be heavily from the team manager, Pep Guardiola.
With the huge expectations on him to win the Champions League for City, he should be disciplined to play with all his best players from the start of the match till the end.
Substituting off his best legs in the late minutes of the game resulted in many loopholes which were effectively capitalized on by Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti and his players.
