LP finally wins governorship election in Abia
The candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Alex Otti, on Wednesday won the governorship election in Abia State with 175,467 votes. He defeated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Okey Ahiwe, who got 88,529 votes, the YPP candidate, Enyinnaya Nwafor who had 28,972 votes.
Otti won 10 of the 17 local government areas in the state, the PDP won six and the YPP won one LG.
The INEC Returning Officer in Abia State, Prof Nnenna Nnannaya-Oti, Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, had declared Otti the winner of the election on Wednesday evening in Umuahia, Abia State.
Prof. Nnannaya-Oti, accordingly, declared “That Otti Alex Chioma of Labour Party having satisfied the requirement of the law is hereby declared the winner of the election.”
