Makinde appoints Yekini Abass as President- General of Oyo markets
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has appointed Alhaji Yekini Abass, known as Y.K Abass, as President- General of all markets in the state.
The Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun, in a statement on Saturday in Ibadan, disclosed that the appointment was made after the ratification of Abass’s nomination by the State Market Leaders’ Council at its meeting held on September 27.
Olatunbosun said the commissioner for Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperatives, Chief Bayo Lawal, presented the letter of appointment to the president-general, known as the Babaloja-general, on Friday, at the State Secretariat Agodi, Ibadan.
The commissioner affirmed that due process was followed in the appointment of the babaloja-general.
“The issue before us today has started since 2013, that is the appointment of babaloja general of Oyo state.
“But I am glad that with the help of God, and also that of my principal, the governor, we are able to achieve the seemingly unachievable.
“And today, despite all the crisis , we are able to follow due process as dictated by the court and judgment interpreted by the Ministry of Justice, we are able to produce babaloja general of Oyo State,” the commissioner stated.
