Kogi Speaker promises quality representation in NASS
The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Matthew Kolawale, after the judgment of an Abuja Court of Appeal on Friday that validated his nomination as a House of Representatives candidate, promised quality representation of residents of his district when he gets to the National Assembly.
Kolawole, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), seeking to represent Kabba/Bunnu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, in a statement on Saturday in Lokoja by his Chief Press Secretary, Olugbemi Femi, celebrated the court judgment as “victory for democracy”.
The Court of Appeal had dismissed the appeal of Segun Olobatoke for lacking in merit, upholding the judgement of the Federal High Court, Lokoja. The court noted that the appellant originating summons was defective, void and worthless for failure to comply with the mandatory provisions of Section 97 of the Sheriffs and Civil Process Act.
According to the Speaker, “The court verdict on the litigation has further strengthened my determination and commitments to continue to provide qualitative representations for the people of my constituency at the national assembly if voted in 2023.
“My candid desire for my constituents is for them to enjoy enduring dividends of democracy as I serve them.
“In spite of this court judgment, APC remains one big family as I will continue to work with everyone within the party.
“Let my co-contestants sheathe their swords and allow the success of the party remain paramount in their minds as the 2023 general elections draws closer”.
The speaker said that there was need for everyone to work together.
