Man, 34, in court over alleged breaking in, stealing N400,000 valuables
A 34-year-old man, Adeyanju Ayodeji, on Tuesday, appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court charged with stealing a lap top and other valuables worth N400, 000.
Ayodeji, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of breaking-in and stealing, but pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp Caleb Leramo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on March 14 at 10.00 a.m. at Igede-Ekiti.
Leramo said that the defendant broke into the house of the complainant, Mr Alade Obafemi, and stole valuables including one laptop, two android phones, a phone charger, towels, trousers and face caps all valued N400,000.
Leramo said the offences contravened Sections 411 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2012.
He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him assemble his witnesses.
The defence counsel, Mr Tope Almeen-Salami, urged the court to grant his client bail, promising that he would not jump bail.
The Magistrate, Mrs Mojisola Salau, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
Salau adjourned the case until April 14 for mention.
