Coutinho has only been with Barcelona a year having left Liverpool for the Nou Camp last January in a fee worth up to £142m.

But reports claim he could be on his way back to the Premier League with a host of clubs interested.

Coutinho has struggled to have the same level of impact he had at Liverpool and has now lost his starting spot with Arturo Vidal and Ousmane Dembele preferred.

And With Ernesto Valverde continuing to pick Dembele over the Brazilian, there are suggestions Coutinho may call time on his short spell in Spain.

Caught Offside claim the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are all interested in bringing him back to the Premier League, while the Reds have also been linked with re-signing him.

However, according to their sources, United have made the first move for the 26-year-old and have opened talks with Barca to determine his availability.

It remains unclear if Barca would consider cashing in on the talented midfielder but Caught Offside claim any potential deal would cost in excess of £100m.

Any possibility of Coutinho considering leaving for rival United would not sit down well with Liverpool fans either following his five-year spell with the Merseyside outfit.

Coutinho became a Kop favourite during his time with the Reds but failed to win a trophy.

The Brazilian’s decision to ultimately force a move to the Nou Camp was not the ending he planned but he explained at the time of his departure his move was not fuelled by money,

“This is not about money” he said. “It’s about the chance to play for Barcelona, to live in Barcelona.

“I gave 100 per cent, 100 per cent of the time I played for Liverpool, Five years, I did everything I could possibly do. I love this club, but it is time for a new adventure.

“I have so many memories and have so many people to thank at Liverpool. I have to improve as a player. In my head, I always think this.

“I understand the size of the task ahead, the cost of the transfer, the status of the deal but this is about ambition, dreams. I want to play with the best player in the world.”
