Medview Airline, Okechukwu, regains freedom
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has released detained managing director of Medview Airline, Muneer Bankole and the director-general of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Osita Okechukwu, on bail.
The duo were detained last week by the anti-graft agency on different corruption allegations.
While the Medview Airline boss is accused of allegedly diverting 50 per cent of funds paid to him by the National Hajj Commission, and an additional $900,000 for the airlift of pilgrims in 2019, the VON DG was interrogated over a case of conspiracy, abuse of office and misappropriation of public funds to the tune of N1.3bn.
Confirming the release, EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said that both Bankole and Okechukwu have been released on bail, adding that investigation into the allegations against them was ongoing.
