Mother dumps days-old baby on refuse site

An unidentified woman dumped her new born baby boy on a refuse site at Kwaita, Kwali Area Council, FCT.

A resident of Kwaita said the baby was found covered with a wrapper on the refuse dump near the village market.

According to him,  a woman who went to dump refuse heard the baby crying and that she searched and found it covered with a wrapper.

“The woman ran back home to inform others and they came and picked the baby. The baby was taken to the social welfare department of the council and they directed that he should be taken to an orphanage.”

The chairman of the council, Danladi Chiya,  directed that the baby be taken to an orphanage pending conclusion of investigation.
