NAFDAC seals shops at Lagos Trade Fair over suspected unregistered cosmetics

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has sealed several shops and business premises at the Trade Fair Complex in Ojo, Lagos State, following the discovery of suspected unregistered cosmetic products.

The enforcement operation was carried out on August 26 and 27, 2026, by NAFDAC’s Investigation and Enforcement Directorate, Cosmetics Division, as part of efforts to remove specified unregistered cosmetics from circulation.

According to the agency, its operatives identified suspected unregistered cosmetic products at several business premises during the two-day exercise. The affected shops were subsequently locked and placed under NAFDAC HOLD labels pending further regulatory action.

NAFDAC also said samples of the suspected products were collected for further investigation, while invitation letters were issued to the owners and operators of the affected businesses for interrogation and necessary regulatory proceedings.

Among the premises affected were Vincentmo World, opposite Bmeck Plaza, Private Plaza; Amazon City of Fragrance at Shops 37 and 38, Beauty Promise Land Plaza; and Aza-King Store Perfumes, opposite Fidelity Bank.

Other affected businesses included PP2 & Fragrance International Ltd. – Design Perfumes & Cosmetics; Fragrance Doctor Shop at No. D12, Abia Plaza; and God & Obaino Fragrance Store, opposite Wave Plaza. NAFDAC said other shops within the Trade Fair Complex were also affected.

The Trade Fair Complex, located along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, is one of Lagos’ major commercial centres, with businesses dealing in cosmetics, fragrances, imported goods and other consumer products.

The latest enforcement forms part of NAFDAC’s broader efforts to ensure that cosmetics sold in Nigeria are properly registered and meet prescribed safety and quality requirements.

The agency has previously carried out major enforcement operations at the Trade Fair Complex. In February 2026, NAFDAC reported uncovering banned, counterfeit and unregistered cosmetic products valued at more than ₦3 billion at a warehouse in the complex.

The affected businesses in the latest operation have not been declared guilty of any offence. The investigation and regulatory proceedings will determine whether the suspected products violated NAFDAC requirements and what further action may be taken.
