Nigeria face Egypt in crucial WAFCON group C decider

The race for qualification from Group C of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) reaches a decisive stage on Wednesday night as defending champions Nigeria take on already-eliminated Egypt, while group leaders Malawi face Zambia in the other final group fixture.

The outcome of both matches will determine the final standings in one of the tournament’s most closely contested groups.

Nigeria head into the clash needing a victory to strengthen their chances of progressing to the quarter-finals, while Zambia will be aiming to defeat Malawi and force a three-way tie at the top of the group.

Should Zambia overcome Malawi and Nigeria defeat Egypt, the Super Falcons, Copper Queens and Scorchers would all finish the group stage on six points after three matches.

In that scenario, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) will apply its head-to-head tiebreak criteria among the three teams to determine the final group rankings and the two sides that advance to the knockout stage.

The top two teams from each group qualify automatically for the quarter-finals.

Nigeria’s encounter with Egypt is scheduled to kick off at 9:00 p.m. West African Time at the Stade Olympique de Rabat.

The match will be broadcast live on AfroSport, an accredited WAFCON broadcaster, as well as on SuperSport and CAF TV.
