Nigeria mourns as military lay to rest Gen. Zirkushu, seven soldiers killed by Boko Haram, ISWAP in Yola
It is a weekend of mourning in Nigeria as the military laid to rest a senior officer, Brigadier-General Dzarma Zirkushu, including seven other soldiers killed by Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in an ambush Askira Uba, Borno State, on November 13. The officers were committed to the mother earth at the 23 Armoured Brigade Cemetery, Yola, Adamawa State, Northeast Nigeria.
Secretary to Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, representing President Muhammadu Buhari, decried that Nigeria is in deep mourning.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Faruk Yahaya, solicited prayers for the deceased, their families; also seeking divine shield the Nigerian Army to be victorious in the against terrorists.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State gave N27 million to the families of late Dzarma Zirkushu and the seven other fallen heroes. He demanded better welfare for the families of fallen heroes.
The victims of the Boko Garam and ISWAP onslaught were identified as Brigadier-General Zirkushu, Major Luka Barde, Lieutenant Usma Usma, Private Salim Muhammad, Private Simon Solomon, Private Abubakar Yusuf and Lance Corporal Oladeji Victor, Danyaro Umaru.
ISWAP terrorists killed them in an ambush in Askira Uba, Borno State, as they were on their way to reinforce the military on the war zone, fighting the terrorists.
