Nigerian Drivers challenge expands to 23 States as national online test holds October 17
The inaugural Nigerian Drivers Challenge (Naija Driver 2026) has expanded to 23 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), with registered candidates preparing for a nationwide online computer-based test scheduled for Saturday, October 17.
The technology-driven road safety initiative, powered by Notch Captains Ltd., aims to promote professional driving standards and improve road safety awareness among Nigerian motorists.
Project Director Adrian Egonu announced the expansion, adding that the Lagos State Drivers Institute (LASDRI) and the Lagos State Safety Commission had recently conducted technical alignment and supervisory activities at the proposed venue for the competition’s grand finale.
The national theory examination is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday and will feature 40 multiple-choice questions to be completed within 20 minutes.
According to the organisers, candidates must use a personal computer or laptop equipped with a functioning webcam and a reliable internet connection to participate in the examination.
Smartphones and tablets will not be supported because the platform’s security protocols require desktop operating systems to facilitate candidate monitoring and prevent examination malpractice.
The organisers have urged registered participants across the country to secure suitable computers and test their internet connections ahead of the examination.
They said the technical requirements were designed to protect the integrity of the competition, prevent identity fraud and ensure fairness in the selection of successful candidates.

As part of efforts to strengthen the competition’s road safety objectives, LASDRI has integrated its core professional driver training module into the challenge’s online portal.
Registered candidates can access the training materials free of charge, including defensive driving guides, highway code manuals and post-crash first aid information.
The organisers said the resources would help participants prepare for the theory examination while improving their knowledge of safe driving practices.
Finalists to compete in Lagos in November
Candidates with the highest scores in participating states will qualify for the national finals and be invited to Lagos from November 7 to 10, 2026.
The finalists will compete in practical driving challenges at the National Stadium, Surulere, for the Naija Driver 2026 title.
The organisers said prizes would be awarded to outstanding state-level and national champions, although details of the rewards were not disclosed in the announcement.
Registration and access to the training materials are free for male and female motorists aged between 18 and 65.
The registration portal is scheduled to close at midnight on October 16, ahead of the national online examination.
Interested motorists can register and access the training resources through the official website, www.nigeriandriverschallenge.com.
