Nigeria’s biggest heist: How Armed robbers hauled away ATM
A band of daring armed robbers haul away an entire automatic teller machine from the Rivers State University premises, and no finger was lifted against them.
They didn’t just ship out the naira-spitting gizmo; they also zoomed off a shuttle bus parked on the premises.
The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed this.
As it happened, the robbers moved in 3 am, dressed in police uniforms.
They ordered the only gatekeeper at the post to open the gate, and he did, with all obedience. They then entered, and tied him down.
Police said they are investigating.
Campus security has been vulnerable in Nigeria, and criminals are having little or no fear attacking the educational institutions.
The Nigeria Defence Academy was attacked August 24, with three officers dead, and others wounded in gun battle.
A former student of the Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos, was killed by gunmen at the schoolgate few days.
