No evidence linked Naira Marley to Mohbad’s death—Police

The Lagos State Police Command has stated that no available evidence currently linked Abdulazeez Fashola, a.k.a. Naira Marley to the death of Ilerioluwa Aloba a.k.a. Mohbad.

ASP Mohammed Yusuf attached to the homicide Section of the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja Lagos disclosed this while summarizing the report of his investigation which he said was inconclusive at the Coroner Court.

According to him, the father of the deceased, the Nurse, Naira Marley and Sam Larry had been invited and their statements recorded in the presence of their lawyers.

ASP Mohammed Yusuf, who led the IPO stated that there was nothing linking Naira Marley to the murder of the deceased, only Sam Larry. He also stated that the CCTV footage of the deceased’s house was faulty and also that the remnants of the medication was gathered.

He said the deceased’s P.A advised the deceased to remain in the vehicle until the crowd dispersed but the deceased refused and came out of the vehicle.

“The Deceased punched his P.A twice and the third one hit the side mirror of the deceased’s vehicle and shattered it thereby causing an injury in the deceased’s fist. That prompted the P.A to leave the scene.

“When they got home, the Driver was asked to take the vehicle for repairs on the side mirror and Prime boy called a nurse to treat the wound on the deceased’s hand, the Nurse stated that she administered anti tetanus injection, paracetamol and tetrazone oxide to the deceased when he vomited, she then ran out to get some medicine to neutralize the effect and before she returned, she was told that the deceased was convulsing and rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

He also stated that the case of assault instituted by the deceased at Ajah was withdrawn by the deceased and his lawyer.

He also stated that information from the immigration reveals that Sam Larry and Naira Marley were outside Nigeria when the deceased died.

He stated finally that they were still awaiting the contents of the autopsy report.

The matter was adjourned to Wednesday, October 25, 2023 for further inquiry wherein the Complainant’s and witnesses will be invited for fact finding.
