One killed as bandits ambush Vigilante in Edo
A member of the Vigilante group in the Ubiaja community in the Esan South-East Local Government Area (LGA), Edo State, Nigeria, has been killed when suspected bandits ambushed him and a colleague during a patrol.
In a statement by Prince Dan Okojie, the Chairman Emergency Services Committee confirmed the killing after a visit to the Ubiaja Police Station where the matter was reported.
“Myself, Joel (Mindcast) and Mr Odiase visited the DPO Ubiaja Police station and on first hand he confirmed that the ambush and shooting of one of our fallen Vigilante heroes was indeed carried out by the Bandits.

“After our visit to the DPO we proceeded to the surviving Vigilante who narrated how they were ambushed by five bandits two from far behind who initially hid one at the middle who first came to view and two at the far end who initially hid also.
The survived member said he was fired upon but the bullet didn’t penetrate thus enabling him to escape.
“As you can see the bullet holes of shots fired but fortunately the bullets did not penetrate and he ran but unfortunately the other one died, their two rifles were stolen by d bandits.
“From there we proceeded to the home of our fallen Hero and met his family, wife and eight children to express our condolences and sorrow, and also assisted them in our little ways.
“Mr Joel and Odiase left a little token for the wife and promised them that the leadership and members of this Great Forum will not abandon them and that they will hear from us soonest.
